Hello. >> Hey, we're continuing on with what does it look like to integrate a temperaments coaching with a mindset coaching approach.
So, we teach both temperaments and mindset coaching in our full certification.
Want to give you a little bit of a glimpse of what that looks like to actually draw insights.
That you can from a temperaments assessment,.
But then pivot that over into a mindset coaching session, which really helps a person to live in the virtuous expression of.
Their temperament, right? The best version of themselves.
>>.
Amen. Um so, we're excited to show it to you.
This is going to be a live demonstration.
>> >>.
Coached. >> Matt's going to be the token.
Melancholic,.
Cuz that is his secondary temperament and very accessible for him.
So,.
I will be the coach. He will be the coach-ee.
And.
Enjoy.
>> Hey folks, welcome back to the Catholic Coaching Podcast.
My name is Matt. >> And I'm Erin.
>> And we're going to be the Catholic Coaches for the next 30 to 45 minutes here.
Uh we're continuing on giving some demonstration of what it's like to incorporate.
Temperaments into mindset coaching. Previous episodes we talked about when you're doing any sort of assessment coaching, you're going through a process.
Of naming, claiming, and aiming, right?
But when you insert the mindset coaching in there, you introduce that third step kind of between the claim and the and.
The aim, it's called tame. So, it's more of a name, claim, tame, and aim.
And the reality is cuz these assessments >>.
Yeah. >> like temperaments, they give us language to really start to.
Ex-.
Explain an interior experience that we're having, >>.
Mhm. >> but that ex- interior experience is not always aligned with truth, aligned with reality.
And that's where the mindset coaching comes in.
>> And really that step of self-mastery.
Comes in, you know, through that taming because we're starting to realize,.
Oh, maybe I'm struggling with believing this lie and.
Really our brains, our minds, our intellect is is made to come into full conformity with truth.
And so it can bring up some lies that we're believing, and really.
That spills over into the rest of the things that we do.
And so, like you're saying, the temperaments,.
The any type of assessment.
Gives you that language, gives you that self-awareness,.
But it doesn't automatically give you that self-mastery.
That is why.
Self-coaching.
Is a thing, and actually is very helpful, but also receiving coaching is very helpful.
You need another brain outside of your brain looking at your brain for you.
Yes. >> Obviously, brains are attached to people and they're inside people and we're working inside people.
>> No, I finally.
I one of the things I I actually started working with a coach.
Um and the reason why I was working with a coach or chose to was just like, I I need somebody that.
Can.
Reveal to me my blind spots.
>> Yes. >> Right? Because we >> And have it not be my wife.
>> >> Yes, that's that's how for the sake of our marriage, right?
And so making that investment, that's.
I I I I get it.
Like this this need. This the journey is one, as John Paul the second says, self-awareness,.
Self-acceptance,.
Yes. >> self-mastery, like you said, Aaron, and then self-gift.
That's the mature expression.
Of the person.
That's what we're all going for.
We want to be that sincere gift of self.
Okay. >> Yeah. So, Matt, you're going to be our token melancholic today.
>> I am. I am. Yeah, I'm excited for this.
Um we're going to be drawing again from our Become.
Workbook, our Become series that we have.
So, our identity and purpose coach training, we teach people how to use this resource,.
And it builds on the temperaments.
It helps you to do a prayerful reflection, drawing insights from your temperament.
We have seven that we explore.
Yes. >> Um and.
Uh and then and then prayerfully consider those and have the Lord speak an identity over you for So, deeping your identity.
In Christ is what the Become series is for.
But a lot of our coaches are using this as a resource to do some mindset coaching with people.
So, we're going to give some examples of what that looks like.
>> Yeah. So, our certified mindset coaches, uh they will be doing something like what we're going to be doing today.
Yep. >>.
Um last two times, we kind of used a format.
We're going to.
Do a little bit of a different format this time.
Mhm. >> Um we give our coaches so many skills, and what's beautiful about that is.
It's very broad and very nuanced, and you can kind of go a little bit deeper into certain different skills as you're.
Coaching and as you you see fit for the person.
>> Lots of tools. Lots of tools in the toolbox.
>> Lots of tools. So, really, I'm going to be kind of coaching Matt, but also teaching and giving you some feedback.
On like why I'm leading into this particular area.
Mhm. >> Here, and we're going to Something that's a little bit different is we are going to.
Help Matt.
Really build conviction around his goal.
So, we're going to start with a goal and then build conviction around it and then get into the mindset piece.
>> Sounds good.
>> Cool. >>.
Okay. >> Let's go. Matt, what is your goal?
What are we working on today?
>> I want to increase our sales.
Closing rates by 15%.
Okay. >> Over the next.
You know, quarter.
Okay. Just writing it down. By.
10.
By 15%?
>> Yeah. >> Okay. >> I think all the coaches that are listening are like.
Me, too.
>> >> Yeah. Yeah, so if you're a coach, listen up.
Melon call coach, too.
>> Um okay. So, how long have you had this goal?
>> I would say like.
Uh it's it's a relatively new goal.
I'd say it's just coming to the end.
We had just finished putting together a sales.
Standard operating procedures, a sales process.
We're getting it ready to roll that out, and so this is something It's a It's a relatively new goal.
I'd say like.
Uh the last.
Last week to be this specific, but I've wanted to increase our sales rate for.
Every day for >> every day.
>> forever. >> >> Okay, okay.
So, so the specifics.
Of the 15%.
Yep. >> right, and maybe even just the hope has kind of been raised a little bit because now you have a.
Sales process. >> Yes. Yep. >> Okay.
So, it's not a new goal.
It's just more specific now. >> Yes.
Yes. >> And then and it's actually like.
It's moved to higher in the priority level.
>> Got it. >> getting more fo- I'm just getting more focus.
>> Okay. So, how often do you think about it then?
>> I think about it every day.
>> Right, every day. Multiple times a day?
>> Yeah, I when I wake up at night, I think about it and I wish I didn't.
>> Okay. All right. >> I didn't.
>> >> That's all right. Okay.
Yeah. >>.
Um what's motivating.
This goal for you? Like what like why is it important that you achieve this?
>> Well, ties into the overall mission Metanoia Catholic.
We want to awaken.
And activate the church militant, and I know that coaches are an amazing instrument for that.
And so, the more more coaches we get out there working,.
Um the more.
We are accomplishing our our our our sole purpose, right?
So, that's super motivating me like the the thought of greater impact.
>> Okay. So, that our coaches can make when we have more coaches, right?
>> So, the sales.
Equal great more coaches, which >> Yeah, I'm talking specifically our coach training sales.
So, people joining either identity purpose coach training or joining, you know, taking the full certification.
Path. >> Okay. Look right here cuz we're doing melancholic right now, and that's your secondary.
So, look at the motivations. Is there any of these that show up for you, too?
>> Yeah, I'm living I find that I do live in my my melancholic quite a bit here.
Okay. Excellence.
Mhm. >> is something.
Okay. >> Uh engaging my passion.
Oh, share a vision.
I love that. >>.
Okay. >> So, those are things that are that are.
Yeah, excellence,.
Share vision connect connection here, too.
>> So increasing the sales.
Closing rates can will allow you to do all those things or allow you to grow in those areas?
>> Well, it allows me to experience excellence like it's so it's like getting better.
I know that it's going to be a process that's not going to be like a one-and-done.
Okay. >> Right. There's and I've got a little bit that's where a little bit of my.
Awesome. >> rub is. So we can get into that here in a moment.
Okay. >> But also like the increase in connection.
I love.
Just being on mission with more people and I feel like we're on mission with all of our coaches, right?
That's what our community is like.
And so I the.
The ability to connect with more people that are seeing a different angle of this whole Catholic coaching movement.
And I get to learn from them like and share in their joy and their accomplishments.
In in a small way indirectly.
Great. Awesome.
Just building your conviction around this goal.
It's not just around the numbers.
There's just it's there's a broader story around it.
>> Oh, and there's absolutely like.
I want to say solvent.
As a company. I want to continue to grow.
I want to be able to make more investments.
All those things important. >> Okay.
Yeah. >> So that actually answers the next question is like what need would achieving this goal address for you and stay.
Solvent but also engage more?
>> Yeah, really.
I really grow. Like so the whole it's like the need to realize the vision.
That's part of it. I mean that's something that's deeply motivating to me realizing like this vision that the Lord's put in.
My head and my heart.
Like I want to be able to hold it in my hands and and like have evidence for it.
Okay. >> But also like I'm just I I want to get to the point where there's some level of of predictability.
Where some there's a science to sales.
I know that.
Uh there's laws of business. I want to be able to just understand.
At a glance just looking at our scorecard and the things that we're doing >>.
Okay. >> What are what are our revenues going to look like?
>> Predictability with revenue. Okay. >> There's just something that's very stable about that.
Uh but what's even better about that with with that is like now we we've gotten very clear in the way that.
We've we're communicating with people. >> yeah.
Clarity.
Okay.
Stability, clarity, awesome. All right, thank you.
Um what does it feel like right now not having achieved this goal?
Like being where we're at.
With the sales.
Being 15%.
Lower than where you want to be.
>> Gosh, it well it I mean it it feels.
Like.
So here's my choleric part that's showing up.
Like I hate waste. So it feels inefficient.
Okay. >> Uh it feels like we the thought comes that we might be wasting our times which it's frustrating to me.
So that's it's a frustration that's there.
Okay. >>.
Um There's also a little bit of shame >>.
Okay. >> that's wrapped up there.
Like and and this thought like I should be further along or should have gotten it by now.
Um.
That doesn't really hold a lot of space for me this to be a learning experience.
Okay. And how painful is that for you?
On a scale one to 10, we'll say 10 being.
Very painful.
I Yeah, when I when I sit in that frame, that mindset >>.
Yeah. >> Oh, it's like a it's like a eight.
Eight or nine. Like it becomes very.
Consuming. >>.
Okay. All right.
So what would happen two months from now?
We're about ready to start our.
Certification.
Let's say two months. I mean you could do it with six months or whatever, but.
>> But what would happen two months from now.
If you haven't addressed or pursued.
Or even achieved this? >> Oh gosh, we're just in the same spot.
>> Yeah, nothing's changed. >> That's that is.
That's a whole 'nother level of shame.
Mhm. >> Cuz It's now it's it's like the thought on top of all that is like you are not.
You're not willing to actually do the work.
You are you know, there's laziness that's here.
You're dominated by there's a lot of judgment that's showing up.
Okay. >> At that point. My my inner critic is.
Like already starting to.
Tell a story.
>> On a scale of 1 to 10, how painful is that.
2 months from now?
It's it's a it's a it's a 10.
10. >> Like it's I can I can already feel the pit in my stomach at the thought of like having done.
Nothing.
In this area.
Over 2 months. >>.
Okay. >> I also think about how much it's going to tick off the rest of my team, too.
It's just like.
Cuz we we know like as a team that this is this is the area where we uh.
Where we could benefit the most.
Yeah. >> with the least amount of effort and yeah.
I'd feel like I'd be letting my team down.
>> So, what's the cost of not taking this action like towards this goal?
You said it like letting the team down.
What else?
>> Well, it's it's um the cost would be you know.
Like still.
Like being in a place financially where it's it's more it's still unpredictable.
>> Okay. I'm pretty >>.
Um and.
Yeah, like it's the cost of of like there there wouldn't be any learning that's happened.
That's the thing that's probably the most >>.
More >> frustrating is just like oh, we've learned nothing.
We haven't changed our behavior. >> Yeah.
>> We might know a little bit more in our head.
Right. >> But there's or even like my prayer the Lord has been like no, stop listening to the YouTube videos.
Mhm. >> It's it's not like it it's getting to a place of indulgence.
Mhm. >> Let's you you know what to do.
Let's start let's start doing those things.
And so that's.
>> So, less spinning. Which is >> Less spinning or less um less like oh, I got to come up with the.
Perfect strategy that works immediately."
Uh.
Sorry. I'm just going to write something down.
Yep.
>> We have not done this before, so >> Mhm.
You're getting it raw.
You're getting raw brain.
>> Taking notes. >> Yes. I just wanted to get >>.
Like >> from your own mouth.
What do you need to do to.
Kind of put a put a system in place for this to happen.
Just what actions you need to take for this?
>> Well, it's there's training for our.
Uh our people that are taking the sales calls.
>> Okay. Sales training.
>> Uh there is.
Just putting a a couple of little systems in place for, you know, tracking things on our CRM.
Um there is a.
Um we need to have clarity on.
What are the things that we're looking at on a weekly basis.
What are the like the and what are the things we're looking at on on a monthly basis just to kind of.
Get a gauge on.
Whether or not the needle's moving in the right direction.
Okay. Are there any of these that that bring up resistance in you right now?
>> It's the.
You know, we've started already track some numbers, so that used to be a a real aversion to those things, but I'd.
Say that.
This is where like the numbers does start I still have a little bit of it because.
Like my analytical parts that really want to have very accurate data.
Okay. >> It it It's almost like this is where my perfectionism.
Even starts to show up here where it's like, "Oh, it's got to be perfect.
Data."
And then I I kind of spin and how do we get the perfect data?
Because if it's flawed, then it's skewed, now we're creating more waste, and it's just like I and I I just do.
Nothing. >> Yeah. Okay, so that's great that you said that.
>> another part that we need to do, okay?
I need to start.
Setting some goals.
Mhm. >>.
For where those numbers need to be.
Okay. >> I have not done that yet, and that's part of the process for and then we're doing going through EOS.
We have our scorecard. I've been tracking.
Numbers for the scorecard,.
But I don't have a goal okay for those numbers yet.
>> >> You mentioned perfectionism,.
Is that where your perfectionism comes up?
>> Yeah, like it's it's I I want to set a number that is.
That's.
Realistic.
Plus.
A little bit more.
You know, so it's it's not >> So like a stretch, a little bit.
>> it stretches, but it's not going to stretch to the point of like breaking.
The team or be or.
You know, cuz it that that starts to kill motivation,.
Right? I want to kind of.
>> I just want to let everyone know where we're at right now.
So what we did is we established a goal.
We kind of gotten to why it's important.
Why it's important to act now, to start acting now, kind of building some of that conviction around that.
And then I just asked you what are the things that need to be done.
Mhm. >> And then asking you.
>> >> okay, out of these, which ones kind of bring up the most.
Resistance.
For you. >>.
Um you mentioned something earlier, you mentioned the perfectionism.
The interesting thing is, we probably don't even need to go on in here, but we can just to show that you're.
Finding it here, but in the weaknesses.
>> It's like the very top thing for melancholic.
Like the >> do you see yourself.
Do you see getting in the way of this and it's >> it's perfectionism.
Like that's a big one.
Perfectionism. Okay.
>> Melancholics, can you empathize?
>> Yeah, it's got to be perfect.
>> Number two, overthinker is number one on our list.
>> >> That's kind of showing up here as well though.
I mean like my analytical one and have.
Oh, wait. How can we get it perfect?
>> Yeah, it says spends too much time analyzing.
And worrying.
So overthinking and perfectionistic.
Yeah. >> The actual definition is sets.
Unrealistically.
High standards.
And stresses.
Out.
When things aren't perfect. >> Yep.
>> Okay. >>.
Yep. >> So it's a combination of those two.
>> Yeah, I'd say like very much the perfectionism is yep.
>> You gave me a thought already.
That's what I was spending time writing down before.
I was going to say why what are you thinking but you already gave it to me.
>> Tell me. >> And it's I have to come up with the perfect strategy that works immediately.
>> Yeah. >> Okay. >> >> You got it.
>> And then you indulge and so now I'm going to take that thought captive.
I have to come up with the perfect strategy that works immediately.
And bring it through our reason cycle.
Mhm. >> See where it leads us cuz it may feel really protective.
>> Yeah, so the reason cycle is the the mindset coaching process that we teach our our coaches in the our full.
Certification. So what Erin just did but she did we just started with.
My temperament and a goal.
And using some of the language from temperaments.
Through a series of questions we've captured a thought.
Yeah. >> Right? We got clarity on the goal, we got clarity on why it's motivational for us but then we captured.
That thought ultimate ultimately once you got that,.
That's when you can start.
Going through the reason cycle. >> And I would bet.
That this isn't just a thought.
This is a belief.
System, which means it's >> Quiet you.
>> It's sticky and it kind of like doesn't move a lot.
So, we can.
>> >> Let's take it. Let's take it through.
Right. >> So, um I have to come up with a perfect strategy that works immediately.
That is the thought. How does that feel?
One word emotion.
And you're not allowed to say true.
Cuz that is an opinion of the thought.
>> >> What's the one word emotion that comes up?
You said pit in your stomach earlier.
I don't know if that's why, but.
>> Yeah, like the first one is overbearing.
Overbearing. >> Or overwhelming.
>> Overwhelming. Okay. >> >> All right.
What's the emotion?
Just going to do this because then I can reference it here.
Mhm. >> Okay. So, when you feel overwhelmed,.
What do you do or.
>> Or not do? >> I delay and I procrastinate.
I postpone.
I justify kicking the can down the road getting getting started.
Okay. >> Which is why you were so triggering for me this last couple of days.
You're just like, "Why don't we going to do it?"
>> My activator.
Yes.
Delay, procrastinate, kick kick the can.
Yeah. >> Do you Are you spinning?
Like what's happening inside your mind?
>> But well, I it is kind of like a.
Indulging in confusion where like the I don't know where to start.
Okay. Okay.
>> And I've got like so many.
So many people that are good counsel in my life I can just like give me the what that it really is.
Anyways, but it.
Yeah. So, that's going on. >>.
Yeah, I I.
I definitely.
No, that think that's it. >> Okay.
Yep. >> Uh weather the fruits of this and I want you to consider your goal.
Increasing the sales closing rates but then also that little minute little.
That step that we were focusing on where it's like setting goals for where those numbers.
Need to be. >> Well, yeah.
I I delay setting the goal.
And really like I I like.
I postpone the learning.
Okay. >> Like the whole thing is like I want to.
I want to grow into like a 15% increase in our close rates for sales.
Okay. >> All right. It's not like an overnight thing where it's just So there's a part of me that like that.
Wants the instant.
Yeah. >> success and this is even like kind of my choleric achiever that's coming in.
It's like let's get it done.
Let's have arrived so we can move forward.
But but um.
I I really start to Here's another thing that I do.
>> clearly not motivated by that cuz you feel overwhelmed.
>> I feel overwhelmed.
I do start to reframe.
The the journey.
As the destination.
Or like rather than the journey there.
It's just like it has to be instant.
There's there's something that's there where it needs to be instant.
Okay. >> Or else.
And here's probably where the underlying belief is.
Mhm. >> Or else I'm not good at this.
Yeah. >> not good at this whole business thing.
Yeah, I was going to ask what do you think it was like kind of protective about this >>.
Yeah. >> And it's probably protecting.
Uh if I don't look at it >> Well, yeah.
And like when I'm not good at that like I don't feel safe.
Like that's.
I I I've done this work before.
Like often times it's like this root of like wanting to feel safe.
Yeah. Yeah.
I we could go to that route.
And since that's something that's kind of been consistent.
I I feel like that probably won't be a we won't be able to.
Address that here. >>.
Okay. >> But I would recommend.
You continue to to like work with the Lord on that.
Lord, show me.
Or help me to experience what safety feels like.
Help Help me to know, bring to mind some of those memories of what safety feels like.
I do want to come >> that's a school he's got me in at the moment, I'd say in prayer.
Okay, you want to go where?
>> I do want to come back to this thought.
If somebody were to say that to you,.
Matt,.
You have to come up with the perfect strategy that works immediately,.
What tone of voice is that?
It's very it's very harsh.
Harsh. >> Yeah, like tyrannical,.
Authoritative,.
Like >>.
Mhm.
>> It's like overbearing.
>> Okay. Do you feel like you have to listen to it?
>> I feel like there's there's something that's helpful in that.
All right.
And is it true.
100% of the time?
>> No. I I No, that's that's.
I mean, from.
Everything I've I've listened to and read, that's not how it works.
It's not an overnight. In fact, when it is an overnight success, when you have overnight success in business,.
Mhm. >> I remember my good counsel.
Telling me when we had overnight success with Virtual Catholic Conference, he's like, "Most businesses don't start this way."
Yeah. >> Just so you know, like it is.
And And that was very helpful because that was a textbook fluke market.
Yep. >> And it was an overnight success and an overnight >> And you'll always compare everything to that.
>> disappearance, too. Yeah. >> Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah. >> So, I would also like to ask like what is it perfect strategy?
Like because there's like obviously something in your head about that.
Is it the one that works the first time?
Is that what it is?
>> No, well even now I'm just starting to like here's what's going on.
Like I'm just not really believing that anymore as we're going through this is I know that it's a slow steady march.
And that's always how it's been over the last you know better half of a decade better part of a decade that.
We've had had Metanoia. It's been a slow steady march.
Yeah. >> And then there's like periods of plateauing and learning and investing and then there's periods of growth and then new.
Periods of plateauing and that's just.
That's more of the the nature.
Of business is like a a series of up-leveling.
And hitting ceilings and then.
Moving you know breaking through to the next ceiling and.
>> What's interesting about this is that you said you wanted predictability.
And stability.
And the fact that you know that this is this is the rhythm of growing a successful business.
Like I feel like that's a great new thought.
Like oh, this is actually.
Like not fully knowing the strategy being in this student space right now.
>> Student, yes.
Yep. >> Just being a student right now and learning.
Is part of the rhythm. Like I know that's stable.
Like that rhythm is always going to be with us.
Yeah. Learning.
Is is also like something that's very motivating to me.
I'm number one learner on my strength finder.
I just I love to be able to move from a place of incompetency to competency.
Not necessarily have to be the expert at it though.
I do like excellence.
But just kind of learning. Like that's that's a big thing where it's like oh man, now I know how to do.
This now. >> Okay. Let's go back to your goal.
The big goal is increase closing rates by 15% but that one little um action that you were that there was resistance.
Around,.
I want to focus on that.
Setting goals for where those numbers.
Need to be or.
Where we want those numbers to be, I would actually reframe it.
Okay. >> Instead of it need to be cuz that I I think that just implies that there's like.
>> Or else. >>.
This Right, there's an urgency around it but also that there's this outsider.
Able to to determine that for us.
And it's like, "Well, no, we can just learn where.
Where we need to be, like where we want to be right now."
Yep. >> Um, so we're setting goals for that.
Who do you need to be?
You said learner.
Who do you need to be.
To actually start to like who do you need to believe that you are to start to do this >> Yeah.
So, this This is my childlike entrepreneur.
Okay. You know, when I've done kind of even with with with.
Dr. Jerry Creed took me through some parts work mapping stuff and that childlike entrepreneur is the part of me that like.
When when my trust is at my safety is taken care of by God the Father.
I can be that person that is okay with not knowing.
Because,.
You know, I'm I'm a engaged student at that point and and it's the joy of just being on the journey and.
Getting to learn.
Because it's not like if I don't learn by such and such a time then suddenly I'll be destitute.
Right. >> Yeah. So, it's.
Yeah, I need to be that.
Just a person that's willing to >> Is that easy to kind of like enter into that that.
Piece of your identity? >> It does.
Require.
Me to do the continual.
Work when that fear shows up of of kind of.
Even returning to the scripture and being like, "All right, Lord, like you're the.
You're the God who gave manna in the desert, you're the God that gave water from the rock, you're the God who.
Gave us the Virtual Catholic Conference that like >>.
Yeah. >> you know, crushed it in a weekend.
And allowed us to go full-time with Metanoia Catholic.
You're the God who.
Um you know, allowed us after 7 years of infertility to finally have our daughter.
Praise the Lord.
Um you're the God that sustains us and like it's like it's an act of willingly remembering.
Yes. >> all the ways that God has provided and also willingly remembering all the ways that God.
Has never.
Ever.
Uh made me left me destitute.
Yeah. Then I I like for you.
Almost an identity statement, I'm remembering.
How to be.
So um I'm remembering how to be that childlike.
Entrepreneur. >>.
Yeah. Mhm.
How true does that feel for you?
>> Yeah, it's like I got it's I like that I like I get to choose to be the childlike entrepreneur.
Amazing. >> That's something that's that's helpful.
It's like cuz there's.
I know what it's like to be in that headspace and in that state and it's amazing.
Cuz I just stay on the march at that point.
I actually do the things that move the business forward.
Yeah. >> When I'm when I'm.
Kind of in the frenetic state, I actually don't look I procrastinate, right?
I actually don't do the things that move me forward.
Okay. >> business forward.
>> Because in your brain you have what this childlike entrepreneur does and you have a whole story back story of this.
Part of you. >>.
Yep. >> Um I like you said, I get to choose.
Can I stretch you a little bit and say, I am choosing.
Today.
In this task.
Or this task that's in front of me.
Yep. >> I am choosing.
To be the childlike.
Okay. >> That person is so okay with not knowing the answer.
And so so.
It's like a they're like a sponge.
Too to like bring in new knowledge.
>> And I love that too.
I'm choosing to be a sponge.
Right now. >> Cool. I like that.
Okay. So,.
There you go.
Um the reason why we shifted to a.
Uh an identity belief.
Was because I knew that you had some belief around that already.
Yeah. >> You have some proof of you living into that a little bit.
Mhm. >> We took that.
Childlike.
Entrepreneur.
That student.
Mentality which is a shift for a lot of melancholics out there when you find yourself in that perfectionism.
Move it into something that you're learning because that is a natural motivation for you is learning.
>> Yeah, even being able to reframe.
The whole sales approach that we have as as an experiment.
Yes. >> Cuz with experiments there's no right or wrong.
It's just learning. >> Yes. Yes.
Yeah. I I see um like the childlike entrepreneur almost being like a scientist.
In like a science lab. It's like, let's see what works.
Yep. >> Um okay, Matt. So, you have a couple of things to remember when you're going at and you are approaching.
That setting the goals.
For where those numbers where we choose those numbers to be.
Yep. And what's that going to be?
>> What are you going to think?
>> What am I going to think?
>> It's like, how would my childlike entrepreneur approach this this situation?
>> I love it.
I am this person. >> Even thinking that is just like, let's just start here.
Yes. >> it there's it all of a sudden it quiets that that overthinking.
At that point where it's just like, oh it.
It doesn't matter cuz it's not permanent.
It doesn't have to be right the first time.
Let's just like start here.
And we'll we're choose a time or we're going to, you know,.
Adjust later or something like that and >> We'll adjust if we need.
>> Yes. >> Yeah. >>.
Yep. >> I love it. That is so good.
I'm going to use that with Avila, too.
>> That's our daughter who is primary melancholic.
And she's very melancholic.
>> And uh >> Good job, Matt.
Thanks. >> Thanks for getting coached.
Hopefully that was helpful. >> It was good.
It was It was helpful. Absolutely helpful.
>> Oh, I want to I want to finish my thought.
Identity beliefs are super duper powerful.
>> Tell me about that. >> Very We have an entire podcast on it, but.
You will always choose and act in accord with what you believe to be true about you, about yourself.
Yep. >> Also, what you believe to be true about God.
But a lot of times.
We don't have the our God beliefs aren't as accessible as our identity beliefs, so they're a little bit easier to work.
With. >>.
Um so if you want to change a habit.
The most pivotal thing is to identify what a new identity belief needs to be.
Yep. >> And find one that is kind of sort of believable and and work your way up that ladder, that belief.
Ladder where it's like I am becoming this person or I get to choose or I wonder.
What my childlike entrepreneur would think about this or how they would approach it.
So, it's kind of some of those ladder beliefs going into it.
That's why There's an entire podcast on it.
You guys can go listen to that.
But.
Um that's why we ended with that identity belief.
Anyway. >> Cool. And the shifts.
All right. And I love how it wasn't like what what Erin ended at was like the strategy for me going forward.
Was what am I going to think.
When I'm approaching the task? It wasn't like what are you going to do now?
It's like what are you going to think because.
That's where the whole like the emotional life is connected with what we think.
Yes. >> What we are inclined to do or act or avoid doing, that's coming from our emotional life, so it's just.
It it the reason cycle,.
The reason why it works is because it it it it's aligned with how God designed.
The human person.
To grow, right? From the inside out and to to.
Improve.
From the inside out. >> I would also say it's like probably the most peaceful way to like transform.
>> Yeah, yeah. >> really honors.
How how we work. So, >>.
Yeah. >> there's no like pressure, pressure, pressure.
Like, get over this belief. Just stop thinking it.
And it's like, well, >> Just stop it.
Yeah. >> Stop it. Two words.
Stop it. Well, yes. And so, if you're a coach that's that's got clients and they know what they need to be.
Doing they're not doing it. And like, this is where the reason cycle comes in and helps.
Like, there's a reason why they're not doing it.
And it's not because they don't know.
Most of the time they know.
Yeah. >> Uh most of the time they know before they even come to you for coaching.
>> They know what to do, you're saying.
But they're just not doing it.
>> The real cause is is it's an identity belief.
It's a it's a self-perception that's there.
Mhm. >> And this reason cycle, it's just very.
It's like it's very surgical in the way that it finds it.
So, uh awesome. Aaron, thank you.
It's next time >> I'll be coaching you on phlegmatic parts.
Let's do it. >>.
Yes. >> All right.
See you guys. >>.
